H60 Product Range

As our brand icon, the H60 mattress has become the best static anti-pressure sore mattress available, providing an effective and economical solution for all hospitals and nursing homes around the world.

The Thermo/H60 product range consists of:

  • Acute and long-term care mattresses
  • Trolley mattresses
  • Overlays
  • Seat and wheelchair cushions
  • Lower leg supports

The two-layered H60 hospital and care home mattress has been perfectly designed to manage the interactions between body tissues and the mattress surface. As soon as the patient lies down, it offers optimal skin perfusion and oxygenation and prevents the development of pressure sores.

Both immersion and envelopment properties of the top layer viscoelastic foam are calibrated to manage variable tissue loads and offer immediate stress relief from shear forces and pressure, microclimate and temperature. The underside layer heightens these properties by providing ideal body support and preventing the mattress from bottoming out.

Patients being nursed on H60 mattresses can easily change position alone or be moved by the hospital’s nursing staff, while experiencing maximum comfort.

The Thermo/H60 product range facilitates

  • Reduced pressure on the body to prevent pressure ulcers
  • Reduced friction and sheering force
  • A comfortable and well-ventilated surface
  • Easy disinfection and simple maintenance
  • Reduced patient turning regime
  • Ease of access to the patient by nursing staff
  • Durability
  • Cost efficiency

About Us

Barrington Medtech was pioneer in introducing memory foam into hospital mattresses for the prevention of pressure ulcers.

Over 40 years of polymer and elastomer foam technology have been brought to bear on the production of a static mattress and cushion for the prevention of pressure ulcers in acute care and long-term care patients.

The development process included consultations with medical professionals such as Consultant Surgeon Geoffrey Spencer at St. Thomas Hospital London as well as practical testing at the Princess Margaret Hospital in Windsor and at Westminster Health Care homes for long term care.

Through passion and research, the brand’s founder and other highly recognised raw material experts were able to isolate the best natural properties of polymer foam, such as its viscoelastic quality, and optimise their performance.

Barrington Medtech and its partners also achieved the feat of bringing together into one textile the field’s greatest innovations to design an anti-decubitus ulcer cover that would exceed the expectations of hospitals.

No compromise has been made to achieve the exceptional quality of Thermo/H60 products.

Several decades of testing in multiple healthcare settings, associated with clinical trials, prove their effectiveness and endurance.

Thanks to our loyal customers, Barrington Medtech continues to equip healthcare facilities around the world with mattresses and cushions that protect their patients against pressure ulcers and relieve pain.

Testimonials

The Princess Margaret Hospital, Windsor, United Kingdom
“Preventing pressure ulcer incidence and ensuring patient comfort are essential components of providing quality clinical care. The purchase of H60 mattresses has proven successful in a number of areas: it has reduced pressure ulcer incidence, eliminated complaints regarding discomfort, and in particular, has proven extremely cost effective. Coupled with the ease of interface with many types of profiling beds, the H60 mattresses have been an enormously successful purchase at the Princess Margaret Hospital. Moreover, with the length of guarantee in mind, it is envisaged that no further mattress purchasing costs will be incurred for at least another 4 years.”

Jennie Bevington, Director of Nursing and Sue Johnson, Ward Manager

South Tipperary General Hospital, Republic of Ireland
“H60 Mattresses were purchased by the Coronary Care Unit six and a half years ago and I am delighted to recommend them as a very effective and economical product. Patients have found the mattress very comfortable and staff have found it very easy to use, as there is no need to turn the mattress. The pressure relieving properties in the H60 mattress are excellent, patients have not developed pressure sores and we have had no need to purchase or rent motorised or pressure relieving mattresses in the Coronary Care Unit since the purhcase of these mattresses.”

Sister Hickey, Coronary Care Sister

St Thomas’ Hospital, London, United Kingdom
“It is the unanimous opinion of the nursing staff that the H60 mattress is, by a wide margin, the safest, most effective and comfortable unit which they have ever used.”

G. T. Spencer, OBE, Honorary Consulting Physician

The Highfield Hospital, Rochdale, United Kingdom
“We have twelve mattresses in use. Since their introduction I have been able to make considerable savings on the hire of low air loss mattresses and I am within budget for the first time. I have demonstrated that these mattresses are saving me money which I was spending on mattress hire.”

Mrs Carol A Bottrill, Director of Nursing

Highview House, Inverness, Scotland
“This mattress seems to be ideal for use with elderly residents with reduced mobility. Cushions used in conjunction with the mattress would be ideal.”

Ola MacRae, Senior Sister

Emily Jackson House, Sevenoaks, United Kingdom
“It would be a great advantage if every resident could benefit from one of these mattresses, replacing the ordinary home’s divan and helping to prevent pressure sores developing.”

“Since November 21 patients have been put on the H60 (mattress). 90% of the patients are over 65 years old. The mattresses are used for anti-decubitus (prevention). Patients varied from those absolutely immobile, those in surgical trauma, those with neck of femur fractures, and those for long term care. The H60 anti-decubitus mattress was effective as a preventive measure in all (these) cases.”

Krankenhaus Hennigsdorf

Martini Nuovo Hospital, Italy
“This patient was an 87 years old female (Norton 5 / Waterlow 37) with more lesions and an infected one (Pseudomonas Aeruginosa) on the left buttock. We used H60 for 6 months. The infection was rooted out using antibiotic systemic therapy within 3 weeks and no more occurred.”

R.Cassino, E.Ricci, A.Carusone, A.Mercanti, Camillo Golgi

Eastbourne Hospitals, NHS Trust, United Kingdom
“Patients with Waterlow scores under 25 did not develop pressure sores on the (H60) mattress.”

Syvie Hampton, Research & Tissue Viability nurse

Kitasato Higashi Hospital, Kanagawa, Japan
“Clinical staff Yasumi Matsubara and Mikiko Kawamura at Kitasato Higashi Hospital carried out a survey for comfort and patient handling on H60 mattress for 7 days. 10 cancer patients in age group 61 to 82 were tended 69 times by nurses in that time. No patient developed a pressure ulcer, the patients felt secure and comfortable compared to the previous mattresses used. Patients could be easily put to bed, and getting out of bed proved easy due to the firm edge. Hospital staff commented that the H60 mattress has a higher level of stability while not restricting individual movement which could prevent pressure ulcers.”

Senior Physician

St. Vincents Consultants, Dublin, Republic of Ireland
“We do indeed find the H60 Leg Supports excellent. They are really one of a very few of the effective measures for preventing heel ulceration and for encouraging healing of heel ulceration. They are my first choice and we have been very pleased with the outcome of their use.”
